Julie Himel is a painter who dwells in the personal, seeking to translate the human
condition in unconscious and emotional experience with the manipulation of paint.
Experience being at the heart of her work, being outdoors is a large part of her
practice. She has traveled widely to interact with nature and culture. She has a deep
interest in Eastern philosophy, a strong meditation, and yoga practice, and is mom to
11-year-old Izzy. Julie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours Degree from York
University, a Graduate Diploma from Toronto School of Art. Her work can be found
in commercial Galleries and public collections in Canada and the United States, and
private collections internationally.
