Frequency

A group show featuring selected works by artist members of the

The Works, juried by Bonnie Ashmore & Lynn Sisler

2025

CURATOR STATEMENT

Artists were invited to respond to the question: What does frequency mean to you? The art in this exhibition interpret the theme in a variety of ways. Some pieces explore the
frequency of color and light, while others attempt to visually represent sound and tone. For example, Rachel Karr's dreamy landscapes reference frequency as a process of
'dialing in' to a memory. Kristin Biles’ abstract collages reflect the theme through the repetition of form and color, creating a visual rhythm within her process. Other artists interpret frequency as intervals of time, drawing from patterns found in the natural world. In some works, frequency emerges through ritualistic action, particularly in relation to the artist's studio practice.

Across the exhibition, the theme appears through pattern, repetition, cycles, and the passage of time-each artist offering a distinct perspective on what frequency means and how it can be seen or felt.
