Residencies & Workshops
Join me for painting workshops in Umbria, Italy and at Chautauqua Institution. Through prompts, studio visits, critique, and conversation, participants are encouraged to experiment, take risks, and uncover unexpected directions in their work. These workshops are designed to create the space and focus needed to develop new ideas, build meaningful connections with other artists, and gain momentum in the studio.
Join me in Umbria, Italy for two weeks of focused studio practice, conversation, and painting.
This workshop explores the space between observation and invention through color, symbolism, and the landscape. Working both outdoors and in the studio, artists will use painting, drawing, and collage to investigate how meaning emerges through perception, memory, and imagination. Through prompts, critique, discussion, and slide presentations, participants will experiment with new approaches, develop new ideas, and uncover unexpected directions in their work.
The all-inclusive experience includes accommodations, chef-prepared meals, studio space, daily instruction, excursions to important art and cultural sites throughout Umbria and Tuscany, round-trip transportation from Rome Fiumicino Airport, and a group exhibition at the conclusion of the workshop.

Chautauqua Visual Arts
Chautauqua Visual Arts offers two residency experiences for artists seeking dedicated time to focus on their work. In the Faculty-Led Six-Week Residency, I teach a seminar that uses prompts, critique, and discussion to help artists develop new ideas and approaches within their practice. The program also includes classes by top notch faculty, studio visits, lectures, and a cohort of artists working across disciplines.
The Self-Directed Two-Week Residency is designed for artists who want concentrated studio time paired with professional feedback. During the second week, I conduct individual studio visits, and we invite a gallerist, critic, curator, or artist to meet with participants and offer additional perspectives on their work and career development.
Both residencies include private studio space and access to Chautauqua Institution's exhibitions, lectures, performances, and interdisciplinary community.
